“How does one even write about themselves?”
I’m in my early twenties, and I’m a young professional in Manhattan, New York. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Psychology (Biology Minor), and a Masters of Social Work (Contemporary Social Issues Specialization). As a professional I work in the field of Diversity & Inclusion, and hopefully I’ll own a consulting firm one day. I love gardening, sleeping, and I’m thinking about getting a cat.
I started Black Women Cry as an act of self love, and a desire to create representation. I love writing, always have and hopefully always will. I don’t think I’m the best writer, but I do think that it’s worth believing in myself despite my insecurities. I used to write on ThoughtCatalog a lot, and as where I appreciated that platform I hated the lack of Black faces I’d see on the site. Black Women Cry was created because I’ve always been a sensitive person, and I’m sure there are a lot of other sensitive Black people out there (they may not realize it yet). I wanted to create a place for Black women to feel free to feel and to express themselves, while also seeing faces their represent our diverse population.
